Ideally, Sino Gold Ltd will eventually be able to tie-in satellite deposits to the company's flagship Jinfeng mine - possibly those recently acquired through a new joint venture in the Golden Triangle region in south west China - for processing at a single plant. Under one of three joint ventures agreed upon last month, Sino added 14 exploration licences in the Guangjd Province to its portfolio, with three of these situated on the border of Guizhou Province, where the 4 million ounce Jinfeng deposit is being worked up to first gold production around March next year. The Guangxi Institute of Regional Geology Survey (GIRGS) currently holds the licences and Sino has the right to earn up to 85 percent upon reaching agreed staged expenditure milestones. GIRGS then has the choice of either funding its residual 15 percent share or selling a further 10 percent to Sino for an agreed amount. All of the licences are within a 100 kilometre radius of Jinfeng, covering an initial area of 67 square Ian, with agreement from GIRGS to expand this to about 200 sq km. "This is very mountainous terrain, so trucking concentrate to a single site for processing through our BIOX facility may not prove as easy as it sounds," Sino chief executive Jake Klein said. "I think it would be optimistic to think we could truck 100 km.
