Victoria is in the midst of a modern day mining boom. While the current gold rush is capturing everyone's attention, Victoria is also experiencing the most significant petroleum developments since the discovery of the Bass Strait fields in the 1960s and may soon become Australia's most significant mineral sands producer. Add to this, developments in coal in the Latrobe Valley and a new focus on coal seam methane and geothermal energy, and the scale of Victoria's resources boom becomes apparent. More than 2 billion dollors in new projects are expected to come on line this year as more companies find that Victoria is 'the place to be' for earth resource investment.
