Case studies to be reviewed by geophysicists

Prior to the Kalgoorlie-Boulder conference a group of Western Australia's leading geophysicists will look at a broad mix of commodity-based cook book geophysics and discovery case histories. The workshop is not intended to transform geologists into geophysicists, but rather expose them to a range of new tools to help them find ore and prepare them for the questions they will need to ask of their geophysicists when designing exploration or mining programs. Commodities to be covered include nickel (Bill Peters of Southern Geoscience Consultants) and iron ore (Phil Hawke of Rio Tinto Iron Ore). These talks will look at the full range of deposit types encountered in WA and explain what works, what doesn't and where a particular technique should be used in preference to another when out in the field.
