New Guinea Gold Corporation is living proof that strength in management is one of the keys when it comes to developing a minerals project from the grass roots phase. The company - which is about to be transformed from a junior explorer to a modest mining outfit in Papua New Guinea - has successfully put together a corporate team with a collective PNG mining sector experience spanning some 100 years. At the helm of the active exploration house is president and chief executive Bob McNeil, who was general manager of Esso Papua New Guinea Incorporated (Exxon Minerals) during the 1980s and has since maintained strong links with the country. Other PNG stalwarts in NGG's management camp include its vice president Dr David Lindley, vice president of operations Wayne Johnson and company director Peter McNeil.
