Platinum Australia Ltd considers 'itself on track to complete its bankable feasibility study on its Smokey Hills platinum group metals project in South Africa's Bushveld Igneous Complex during June. In April Snowden Mining Industry Consultants came up with a diluted measured and indicated UG2 Reef resource estimate of 5.3 million tonnes grading 5.61 grams/tonne of platinum, palladium, rhodium plus gold for 960,000 ounces of contained metal. Estimated geological losses of 21 percent due to potholes, dykes, faults, rolling reefs and pegmatite were involved in the calculation. The undiluted grade was estimated to be 8.6 g/t 4E PGM. Estimates were based on 68 diamond drill holes along with other analyses. The Smokey Hills BFS was examining an initial open-cut with relatively shallow underground works, plus on-site treatment, plus delivery to smelters. GRD Minproc, Africa Geo-Environmental Services and SRK Consulting are also involved in the BFS activities. In a review of operations accompanying Platinum Australia's December 2005 financial report, the company said it envisaged a potential 95,000 oz per anum 4E operation over a seven-year mine life.
