The contributors to the lead article in June's Gold & Minerals Gazette, Dr Bill Laing and Pat Stephenson (on behalf of the JORC Committee), while appreciative of the magazine giving space to an important technical subject, wish to express their dismay at the headline of the article: "JORC accused of ignoring potential anomaly". It is clearly contrary to the spirit of our written and verbal communications with the feature writer and to the content of the article itself. We are disappointed that the constructive dialogue between Dr Laing and the JORC Committee reflected in the article was portrayed in such a controversial manner in the headline.
