Exploration spending continues to decline

Spending on mineral exploration in Australia declined by up to 27% between June and December last year, casting more doubt over where the next generation of Australian mines will come from. Statistics from the Bureau of Resources and Energy Economics (BREE) appear to support the bears who say the mining boom is over and the cycle is moving in a downward direction.
