West Australian-based explorer Avoca Resources Ltd finished off a busy December quarter with a share placement to raise 3 million dollars, allowing it to strengthen its diverse exploration projects. "We are now very well placed to hit the ground running in 2004, with drilling to commence shortly to test some newly identified high density bodies on our South Australian copper-gold projects," managing director Rohan Williams said. In particular, Williams is excited about the potential of a hematite breccia that may host copper-gold mineralisation. Avoca will drill test the zones of interpreted haematite breccia in the March quarter. A previously reported 6 kilometre long gravity anomaly at Port Julia was tested with a single hole drilled by Avoca during the June 2003 quarter. The drill hole intersected a 60m zone of haematite breccia and lies about 2 km to the south west of the newly defined zone of higher density lithology.
