Early results seem promising

Work is steadily progressing in the Hodgkinson Basin region of far north Queensland for Republic Gold Ltd as it moves ever closer to mine development. The company is conducting process optimisation work applying the GEOCOAT~R bacterial oxidation technology to ore contained within its Hodgkinson Basin project area. Managing director John Kelly said the initial results from testwork undertaken by the company using GEOCOAT~R technology were highly encouraging, indicating a gold recovery from a sulphide concentrate of 88 percent. Further optimisation work would be undertaken to improve on this initial figures. The Agnes gold mine in South Africa is the only other mine in the world using the advanced processing technology which is owned by US company Geobiotics LLC. Kelly said Republic stood to benefit from Agnes' 18-month experience applying the technology because potential problems had been identified and overcome.
