For many years Tasmania has been fighting above its size in terms of contributing to both mining and mineral processing. It is considered one of the most friendly Australian states but its progress with mining is being impaired by metal prices and Australian costs, including the pressure on energy prices, and it has a coalition State Government of Labor and the Greens which has not been driving industrial development.
