Mutual coupling study has been carried out on microstrip Meander line antenna elements for use in active-phased array radars. The basic Meander line antenna element has been designed to obtain linear horizontal polarization with a wide bandwidth and wide beam-width in S-band frequency. The elements are fabricated on a low cost glass epoxy (FR4) substrate with array interelement spacing of approximately half wavelength. The mutual coupling study has been carried out in a linear and planar array environment and the results show no performance degradation of the array element impedance and patterns due to mutual coupling.
