摘要

A square patch antenna with a single varactor loading is introduced as a tunable antenna over a wideband. Simulations as well as measurements demonstrate that the resonant frequency of the dominant mode can be tuned to cover more than one octave. Probe-strip feed is used to enhance antenna matching over the entire tunable band. Cavity mode analysis is applied to a simple model of antenna to predict the lowest resonant frequency for an arbitrary location of the varactor loading. Excellent agreement between computed, simulated, and experimental results is reported.
