A simple and accurate expression for the bandwidth of electrically thick rectangular microstrip antennas

A new, very simple closed form expression for computing the bandwidth of rectangular microstrip antennas with thick substrates is presented. It is obtained by means of a curve fitting technique, and is useful for the computer-aided design of microstrip antennas. The theoretical bandwidth results obtained by using this new bandwidth expression are in very good agreement with the experimental results reported elsewhere.
