摘要

A group of 3 × 3 integrated optical switches with the bifurcation optic active (BOA) structure of a zero-gap directional coupler for a three-axis fiber-optic gyro is fabricated and demonstrated by using an x-cut LiNbO{sub}3 substrate and 1.3-μm optical wavelength. The technique of proton exchange on the LiNbO{sub}3 wafer is contributed to form a single-polarization state for optical modes. Experimental results show that the devices with BOA structure have a low crosstalk and the more obvious advantages of decreasing the size, weight, and costs of fiber-optic gyro.
