Suart Weidie calls it the "grassroots period" for Blossman Gas. That period was from 1987 to 2006, when Blossman opened up 23 grass-roots locations in brand new markets. So what was Weidie doing at the beginning of that period? Playing baseball. Weidie, now president of Blossman Gas, was drafted by the Boston Red Sox and played for that organization from 1986 to 1990. He made it all the way to Double A, which is only a couple of levels away from the major leagues. But an injury cut his dreams short.
