摘要

In order to develop anode or cathode catalysts for polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs), a reliable and reproducible synthesis method is crucial. In parallel, a thorough evaluation of the particle size and size distribution using electron microscopy as the state-of-the-art method is necessary. In this study monodispersed Pt_2Ru_3 alloy nanoparticles supported on carbon black, prepared by a recently developed nanocapsule method were investigated. The image analysis was done by a modified computerized image processing routine using the local adaptive threshold (LAT) image processing routine. The results clearly demonstrate the advantages of the nanocapsule method for the preparation of the nanoparticles as well as the precise, advanced and unbiased data evaluation.
