Degree for Equivariant Gradient Maps

In this survey article we present result, proved during the recent decade, concerning the degree for equivariant gradient maps.There anre many problems in mathematics, mechanics and mathematical physics whose solutions are critical points of an appropriate energy functional or an action integral. For instance, Hamiltonian systems, second order ordinary differential equations, semilinear elliptic partial differential equations and wave equations.
