CISA member steelmakers’ average daily pig iron output in the second ten daysof September rose by 3.25% to 1.65Mt/day compared to the previous period; intandem, total crude steel production rose by 1%. As the chart shows alongside,pig iron production was curbed rapidly from the middle of August, inadvance of the clean-air policy, so naturally the rebound since has beenproportionately faster than for crude steel.
