CHINESE COKE PRODUCERS REDUCE OUTPUT ON WEAK DEMAND

Chinese pig iron output reportedly fell 3.9% year-on-year to 56.6Mt inSeptember, falling more quickly on a month-on-month as well as year-on-yearbasis than crude steel. This was in-line with observations from CISA membersthough their output in both cases appeared to fall more quickly than forthe whole country, at least through the first twenty days. More pertinently,the cutbacks in our view would have been greater had Chinese steelproducers been less willing to increase exports.
