Reaction of [(PPh3)(3)RuCl2] with white phosphorus: synthesis of the first Ru-II complex featuring a tetrahedro-tetraphosphorus ligand

The title reaction affords slightly air- and light-sensitive [(PPh3)(2)ClRu(mu-Cl)(3)Ru(PPh3)(2)(eta(1)-P-4)], which belongs to a very rare family of soluble tetrahedro-tetraphosphorus complexes and represents the first ruthenium species of this type. [References: 25]
