Zinc prices extended gains last week to reach a fresh multi-month high of $2,230/ tonne, which was above the January 2012 peak at $2,220/tonne. For some time we have been expecting the high ground up at these levels to turn prices lower, and that may now have finally started to happen. Given that the fundamentals for zinc are weak, we are not surprised that producer selling has been evident at the highs recently.
