China imported 262,940 tonnes of refined copper in August, a reduction of 10% on July’s high figure but still an increase of 4.8% on last August. Imports also held comfortably above the ytd monthly average of 241,000 tonnes despite the reversal of arbitrage incentives in August. Exports fell to just 12,594 tonnes, the lowest monthly total since September 2012.
