Although interspersed with spells of consolidation, the tin price rally that commenced in late October remains in place. Average weekly gains have been in the order of 2%. Of all the metals, tin might offer the most solid fundamental setting - in the form of a market deficit and strong price outlook - but it is important to remember that all is not rosy, even in the tin sector. We note in particular the continuing weakness in demand, most crucially in China, and if this does not bottom out soon it could offer the biggest sting in the tail for tin's march towards higher pricing.
