With the continued liquidation of long positions, three-month aluminium has settled at just above the $2,000/tonne level. This is essentially where it was trading during much of the summer and before the late July/early August rally. Unlike the other metals, aluminium was not helped upwards by the better than expected US job numbers last week, but it did take a knock from the poor housing data earlier in the week.
