LME tin stocks have held at around 11,600-11,700 tonnes since mid July, despite a reduction in Indonesian exports and the fact that over the same period cancelled warrants have risen from around 30% of total stocks to 64% by Friday September 7. Under normal conditions, this would seem to imply that close to half of LME tin stocks could have, or should have, been withdrawn from LME warehouses in recent weeks, but this is simply not happening.
