The impending arrival of the end of year and the desire to keep stocks low is cutting buying activity. Any ordering has been further slowed by a fall in the price of nickel ahead of last week’s rally. However, some sectors are showing stable end-use demand, and this in turn is giving some localised hopes for the coming quarter, if economic problems are contained.
