LME cancelled warrants surged to 1,760 tonnes (11.2% of total stocks) last week, having been in the 300-600 tonne range in recent weeks and as low as 120 tonnes (0.9% of total stocks) a month ago. Since this has followed a dip in prices, it may be related to genuine pent-up spot demand from the physical market, as consumer accept that the prices have turned and are unlikely to go lower now.
