The heterometallic Ni/Zn compound [Ni(bpy)_3][Zn(NCO)_4]·H_2O was synthesized and crystallographically characterized. This complex is an efficient catalyst in the H/D exchange reaction of salicylaldehyde, as confirmed by ~1H NMR spectroscopy and GC-MS analysis.
