1-Amino-3- (methylthio) propylphosphinic acid likewise methionine, is a substrate in alpha,gamma-elimination and gamma-substitution reactions catalysed by pyridoxal-5'-phosphate-dependent L-methionine-gamma-lyaseand is capable to induce the synthesis of this enzyme in Citrobacter intermedius cells as does L-methionine.
