A simple and sensitive method is presented for the determination of dopamine with a nanoscale ceria ion-selective CMC (carboxymethyl cellulose) membrane electrode by means of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky oscillating chemical reaction.The electrode exhibits excellent potential response.If the concentration of dopamine is in the range of 4.9 x 10~(-5) to 2.4 x 10~(-7) mol centre dot L~(-1),the change in oscillating amplitude is proportional to the concentration of dopamine,with a correlation coefficient of 0.9987 and a standard deviation of 0.17%.A recovery of 97.5-105.0% was obtained.Interference was also studied.The use of a nanoscale ceria ion-selective membrane-working electrode improved the sensitivity of the determination method.
