I am very pleased to be able to serve as a guest editor for this Special Issue of Microchimica Acta on the Electrochemistry of Semiconductor Nanocrystals.Even though colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals (or quantum dots;QDs) have been prepared and known for many decades,the electrochemical and sensing properties of QDs have not gained much attention,possibly because the scientific interest primarily was focused on the size-dependent optical properties of such nanoparticles,and on their potential application as fluorescent labels for purposes of bioimaging.
