Trace Elements and Crop Production in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland

A one-day meeting, organized jointly by the Society of Chemical Industry, (Agriculture and Environment Group), and the Fertilizer Society, took place in London in March 1995, to provide the opportunity for an assessment of the current trace element situation in crop production.Information was given on the pattern and use of trace elements, but it would appear, from published studies, that very little new work on trace elements has been carried out since the SCI last discussed the subject in 1985 in the United Kingdom. In contrast, much seems to have been happening in Ireland, not the least of which has been the work on zinc deficiency on cereals.
