CMU petroleum geology students tour Isabella Co. drilling operation

PLEASANT, Mich. —A group of 11 Central Michigan University petroleum geology students-got a first-hand look at an oil and gas drilling operation earlier this week when they visited the location of Summit Petroleum Corp.'s Dutcher & Losey 1-29 Dundee development well in Isabella County's Sherman Township, which was being drilled by Bigard & Huggard Rig 1. Tim Maness of Mt. Pleasant-based Maness Petroleum Corp., a partner in the Summit-operated well, organized the tour, along with CMU geology instructor Martin Steinbis. Maness said it was the third time in the past two years that CMU geosciences students in classes taught by Steinbis had been invited to visit a drilling location.
