TITRIMETRIC DETERMINATIONS OF SOME AMINO ACIDS

A titrimetric method is described for the determination of several amino acids, namely, histidine, methionine, cystine, cysteine, and tryptophan. The method involves the use of 1,3-dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoin or N-bromophthalimide as titrant. The equivalent point is detected directly, indirectly, potentiometrically, or spectrophotometrically. The results obtained compare favorably with those obtained by the pharmacopoeial methods.
