Merit Energy evaluating horizontal drain hole drilled from existing Richfield Zone well in Norwich Unit secondary recovery waterflood project

MISSAUKEE COUNTY, Mich.—Merit Energy Co. has successfully completed drilling of the first horizontal drain hole in the East Norwich Field's Norwich Unit secondary recovery waterflood.Beckman Production Services Rig 32 and Panther Drilling Systems reached a measured total depth of 6,945 feet (4,455 feet true vertical) on the Norwich 4-133 HD-1 (SL: NW NW SE, Sec 12-T24N-R5W, Norwich Twp., Missaukee Co.) on June 7, according to Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Office of Oil, Gas & Minerals (OOGM) field geologist Bill Duley.
