Encana confirms its role in potential Michigan Basin Collingwood, Utica shale play

CALGARY, Alberta — Canadian natural gas producer Encana earlier this month confirmed its involvement in a potential Ordovician Collingwood Shale / Utica Shale gas play in northern Lower Michigan following a historic May 4 auction sale of lease rights to state of Michigan-owned minerals that saw bidders pay an average of more than $1,500 per acre for rights to more than 118,000 acres.
