Tech update: Dual Lift System for producing horizontal wells continues to be refined, improved

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — The patented Dual Lift System, an artificial lift process developed and first field tested in Michigan by petroleum engineer Bill Quinlan of Jordan Development Co., LLC, continues to be refined and improved upon more than 10 years after the first systems were installed in a group of regional Brown Niagaran oil and gas wells operated by Jordan in Manistee County. A feature article in the March 29,2013 Monthly Report Edition of Michigan Oil & Gas News described how Quinlan applied his 25 years of oil and gas industry experience to the problem of steep production declines brought on by liquid loading in horizontally drilled oil and gas wells by developing the Dual Lift System—which is based on what is known as the QDL packer.
