Encana confirms transaction with Marathon Oil to divest Michigan asset

DENVER—Encana Gil & Gas (USA) Inc. has confirmed the late August 2014 completion of a transaction with Marathon Oil to divest its Michigan asset of producing Collingwood oil and gas wells, pending drilling permits and undeveloped leasehold. Encana had amassed a sizable position of both private and state-owned acreage beginning in the late 2000s, drilled Michigan's Collingwood discovery well in Missaukee County in late 2009 and early 2010 and went on to drill and complete apparently commercial Collingwood wells in Kalkaska and Crawford counties from 2011 to early 2013.
