摘要

The chemotherapy or the use of chemical therapeutic agents the anthelmintics, is the main sure and very effective tool if used judiciously. It remains the single, most effective, efficient and inexpensive method to control the parasitic infections.The disruption of glycolytic enzymes, fumarate reductase linked terminal pathways in helminths, enzymes of oxidative metabolism, nucleic acid metabolism, protein metabolism are fatal to the parasites. Inhibition of glucose uptake and disruption of carbohydrate metabolism are the desirable prerequisites of an effective anthelminitic. Tolzan proves to be of this type since glucose uptake is inhibited along with drugs interference in carbohydrate metabolism. The altered contents of substrates and the activity levels of enzymes during tolzan treatment confirm that tolzan is an effective anthelmintic influencing the protein metabolism of P. nagpurensis.
