CARBON FOAM FORMATION IN INDUSTRIAL CELLS FOR ALUMINIUM SMELTING

摘要

The paper repots the data from the speciality literature concerning the generation of the carbon foam during the electrolysis of the cryolite-alumina welt with premellow anodes. The causes for the carbon foam during the electrolysis of the carbon foam and its effects in the Hall-Heroult cells for manufacturing aluminium are shown. A mechanism explaining the generation of the carbon foam is proposed.
