DEVELOPMENT OF WEAR RESISTANT MATERIAL FOR CONE CRUSHER APPLICATIONS

Traditionally, Hadfield Mn-Steel is used as a material for crushers in mineral beneficiation applications. However, in many cases, the use of Hadfield Mn-Steel has proved unsatisfactory due to insufficient transformation of austenite/inadequate strain hardening, where the impact is low in service Such as in. The paper examines if high chromium cast iron and Ni-hard cast iron, in the properly heat treated condition, could be considered as a replacement for Hadfield Mn-steel for crusher application. In the process, various thermal processing of the cast iron for producing superior wear resistance and impact properties are also reviewed.
