'ANNA LINDSAY MACDONALD: PATH'

Illuminating beauty obscured by familiarity is the purview of Anna Lindsay MacDonald. For the past year the artist has used her own fascination with urban navigation as a point of departure to create jewelry that highlights an aspect of city experience that we tend to overlook; the paths we follow in our daily routines. Using city maps as the basis of her explorations, the artist translates segments employing materials associated with civic building, industry and labor-stainless steel, aluminum, rubber, acetate, acrylic, plastic laminate and paper. Potentially cold and hard in appearance, these surfaces are rendered delicate when pierced to reveal the patterns and meanderings of city streets.
