摘要

In present study an attempt was made to upgrade low grade chromium ore containing high value of iron by prereduction using down draft sintering followed by acid leaching. The effect of sintering parameters, acid concentration and optimization of process parameter on iron extraction was studied. It has been possible to improve Cr/Fe ratio of the chrome ore containing 48.14 percent Cr_2O_3 and 15.45 percent FeO from 2.7 to 5.27 with 50 percent coke breeze, 25 min sintering time and leaching by 15 percent H_2 SO_4 acid.
