The paper deals with a thermal analysis of a heat-transfer process for alumna filling of a regenerative heat exchangerattached to a heat treatment furnace. We wanted to find anoptimum value of the diameters of filling balls; this value mustprovide a maximum degree of heat retention during heating period.An additional simulation of the process of convection heat transferinside the filling was carried out using FLUENT 5.0.2. the resultsthus obtained are given in graph and post-processed image forms.
