摘要

Overburden material generated during chromite ore mining at Boula-Nausahi area contains around 6 percent Cr_2O_3, 8.76 percent Fe and 34 percent MgO. A set of physico-chemical analysis, mineralogical characterization and beneficiation studies of the overburden material have been undertaken for its probable utilization. The overburden material consists of chromite, magnetite, serpentine, talc and tremolite with minor to trace amounts of sulfides. Chromite is liberated at around 100 #mu#m and could be separated from the associated gangues by using a concentrating Wilfley Table, A concentrate of 45 percent Cr_2O_3 could be obtained with 57 percent recovery. A conceptual flow sheet is presented based on the laboratory experimental data.
