The influence of the separating-plane position inopen-frontal die forging is analysed. The modification of burr role is emphasized, as dependent ofthe separating-plane position.Based upon some experimental tests one can conclude that themetal consumption may be reduced by 10-15% and the die force isalso reduced by about 50% if a passive-burr die forging is usedinstead of active-burr die forging (classical burr).
