World patents are pending for Rocol's TRI-Logic slideway oil that is formulated not only to resist microbial attack, but also to actively reinforce the anti-microbial properties of cutting fluids. Rocol Lubricants, UK-based manufacturer of industrial lubricants, has introduced the range of TRI-Logic products with the aim of solving the problem of premature cutting fluid failure. In the drive to extend fluid life, the focus has always been on the fight against microbial attack, because the primary cause of premature fluid failure is degradation by bacteria or fungi. Tramp oil (which is predominantly oil from machine slideways) is a major cause of this degradation, as it is an ideal source of nutrients for the microbial population in cutting fluids.
