Operational results of the 120 t DC-Arc furnace at stahlwerk thuringen, Germany

During the four years of operation since its startup in early 1995 the 120 t DC-Arc furnace at Stahlwerk Thuringen has produced 2.5 million t of liquid steel. As long-time average values a power-on time of 40 min, power consumption of 340 kWh/tand refractory consumption of 1.9 kg/t have been reached. The fin-type anode has proven its long lifetime and high degree of reliability. Also the ladle furnace and the beam blank caster have achieved a high productivity level.
