The CasTemp system has been successfully applied to one of the conventional continuous casting machines operated at Corus IJmuiden. The steel plant can now measure the tundish temperature continuously and avoid some of the application problems associated with conventional systems. Currently Corus IJmuiden is converting the regulation of the casting speed to the CasTemp output and will apply the system also to the second conventional caster.
