Gantry CMM tackles automotive tooling

Qualtech was established in 1981 and soon began to specialise in tooling for the automotive industry, using its expertise to produce complex 3D forms. Today, Qualtech produces automotive dies of all types of up 20 tons total weight, tri-axis transfer tooling, most types of press tools, progression dies and jigs and fixtures.Customers send the wire frame or surface information of parts directly to the CAD/CAM office in IGES, VDA or DXF formats (the Delcam software used will also translate data in other formats) and here a combination of toolmaking and software expertise enables the operators to develop toolpaths to manufacture the dies. Toolpaths are drip fed to the machine tools via a DNC link.
